I served as an Associate in the International Tax Services group at PwC Houston. I collaborated with cross-functional teams on a variety of international tax projects including compliance, consulting, and provision engagements, and I assisted with project management through delegation and administrative tasks. I gained experience with Forms 5472, 1120-F, 1118, 8858, 8865, 8023, 1042, 8832, and W-8BEN-E, and I prepared workpapers and used tax software to prepare and file including GoSystem and SuperForms. I also used legal research software including Westlaw and RIA Checkpoint to research tax issues, and I drafted write-ups in both email and memorandum formats of my findings. I assisted on the review of various workpapers and memorandums on provision engagements, including review of Section 956 calculation and Section 78 gross-up amounts. I also spent three months rotating in the Financial Services group at PwC and gained exposure to partnership taxation concepts by assisting on four equity fund compliance projects.

Mallet Assembly is an autonomous honors organization at the University of Alabama. It was founded to facilitate the peaceful integration of the University, and today it carries on that mission by being an inclusive and diverse environment for forward-thinking individuals. As President of Mallet Assembly, I was responsible for managing the external affairs of the Assembly and maintaining relationships with pertinent University of Alabama offices. I ran Assembly meetings, and I delegated tasks to our executive committee, which is composed of fifteen democratically elected student positions and two faculty advisers. I worked to improve the Assembly by developing an assessment which helped to determine the successes and shortcomings of the program and which will be used by all presidents following me. I also worked with alumni of Mallet Assembly to establish a board with the intention of fundraising for the duration of the Assembly's future. In the summer of 2012, I organized a memorial in honor of former U.S. Attorney General Nicholas Katzenbach, who came to the University and enforced the desegregation of the school in 1963. The author of Katzenbach's definitive biography, Amy Schapiro, was flown in and spoke along with many other individuals. My time as President of Mallet Assembly taught me a great deal about delegating tasks, team development, working with diverse groups, project management, and introducing change.

The Alabama Association of Nonprofits (AAN) is an umbrella organization of nonprofits in the state of Alabama. AAN seeks to provide these nonprofits with resources, training for executives, networking opportunities, and discounts on needed products and services. AAN is also an advocacy group that works to address issues involving the nonprofit sector at the local, state, and federal levels. As an intern at AAN, I was given the opportunity to attend many professional workshops and seminars regarding leadership, board management, fund raising, volunteer management, and many other valuable skills. I was tasked with researching and developing an online database of resources for the use of member nonprofits. I reviewed dozens upon dozens of websites and online resources and compiled them into an organized format that would be useful to executives and board members of nonprofits. I also answered questions from nonprofit executives across the state of Alabama.

As an undergraduate student researcher, I worked with a group of other undergrads and grad students to conduct research on human subjects. We evaluated research models and analyzed data collected by the group involving several different projects. In the spring of 2012, I presented one of the research projects at the Southern Anthropological Society annual conference in Birmingham, AL.

Sustained Dialogue is a method of conflict resolution initially developed to aid in the Arab-Israeli-Palestinian peace process of the 1970s and adapted to give college students a way to address the conflicts that exist on their campuses. Diverse groups of students meet once a week throughout an academic year to engage in meaningful dialogue about campus and national issues. I was certified to be a Sustained Dialogue moderator my freshman year, and since then I spent two years moderating groups of students from different racial, cultural, socioeconomic, religious, and political backgrounds. I helped to maintain a respectful and safe space in which these students could honestly discuss issues of discrimination, prejudice, and change. One of the groups of students I moderated chose to organize a forum on free speech, an effort which I facilitated by delegating tasks and inviting speakers.
