Manage the Industry Engagement functions of the Industry & Corporate Engagement unit in the Economic and Technology Development Department of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia.

• Creates and maintains links with KICP partners and catering to their R&D needs. Primarily responsible for managing all R&D aspects of industry with KAUST R&D. • Guide all (9) Center Liaison Officers (CLO)s, KAUST faculty, and research staff in establishing and strengthening the relationship between KICP partners, and with potential collaborators• Ensure effective communication with KICP partners through the creation and dissemination of literature, articles, brochures, newsletters, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, promoting KICP, the research centers and CIAPs• Coordinate the execution of activities, in coordination with the relevant KAUST units and departments, linking industry partners to the research and graduate education activities on campus (e.g. annual KICP research symposium, scientific seminars, conferences, technical meetings, , workshops, etc.)• Devise a strategy for creating the pull elements that will engage KICP members and bring them closer to KAUST, hence benefiting both sides• Design and implement mechanisms to broaden interaction between KAUST and KICP industry partners including:, faculty sabbaticals, researcher exchange, Centers’ International Advisory Boards, review meetings, collaborative research projects, sponsored research agreements (SRA), intellectual property licensing, short courses, research match-making workshops and tours of research facilities• Understand KAUST research relationships with its Academic partners and develop a process to maximize leveraging partners’ research outcomes and IPs• Identify and organize local, regional, and international scientific and research events that benefit KICP• Communicate fluently and frequently to KICP partners and keep them updated on KAUST faculty research and gauge feedback, and recommendations on the research topics that align with the industry needs

Start-up company in Pasadena dedicated to the development of energy storage devices including high discharge-capacity, high energy density, and rechargeable Li/Air automobile batteries. · Responsibilities included defining research directions, promoting intellectual property strategies, setting up laboratory computational facilities, hiring, leading and defining projects for PhD level scientists, developing methods (Quantum Mechanics, Molecular Dynamics, Multiphysics Modeling) for applications to energy storage solutions, researching computational electrochemistry, writing provisional patents.

Senior Manager of the Materials and Process Simulation Center• Established and managed a number of multi-year contracts with Academia (UCLA, SFSU, CalState, URL, UVG, PUJ) and Industry (3M, Avery Dennison, Kellogg's, Exxon, Owens Corning, Chevron, Dow Chemical, Saudi Aramco, Hercules, Dow Corning).• Responsibilities included writing proposals, managing budgets, hiring and training postdoctoral fellows and graduate students, executing industrially sponsored research. • Collaborated with Industrial Scientist in solving key technological problems in product development areas from new materials, to catalyst development, to invention of novel processes. • Collaborated in multiple publications and patent applications.
