Born and raised in Tucson, AZ, I graduated from Pueblo High School (Go Warriors!) and had the privilege to attend Carleton College in Northfield, MN, where I studied Media Arts—a passion that began during my time at Pueblo participating in the Film/TV program. After graduation, I returned to Tucson and started a similar media program at Sunnyside High School, naming the news production Blue Devil News, which pays homage to my upbringing at Pueblo.As the program's popularity grew, so did the opportunities for me to grow. In the fall of 2010, I left my classroom and became a technology integration coach for Sunnyside Unified School District, with my main charge being to assist in the implementation of the newly formed one-to-one computing initiative. During my time as a tech coach, I realized that I wanted to have an even greater impact on education, so I returned to school and earned my Master’s in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University.Upon graduation, I earned the position of Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction at Desert View High School, where I served under the leadership of Mr. Jose Gastelum and Ms. Rosemary Rosas. Four years later, I was able to earn my own principalship, leading one of Pima JTED's various campuses. There, I helped spearhead the opening of their newest campus and initiated collaboration between Pima JTED and Tucson Unified School District with the opening of Innovation Tech High School.After serving in that position for four years, I returned to Sunnyside Unified and now proudly serve as their CTE Director. I am blessed to support such amazing programs and work with wonderful people, all dedicated to preparing our students to be college, career, and community ready.
