The day-today job when working as a data privacy specialist and consultant means working in a rapid, constantly evolving area of the law. The existing legislation is in a state of continuous interpretation by data protection authorities and courts around the world as the principles of the original General Data Protection Regulation (‘GDPR’) of the European Union get copied, adopted, and modified, presenting unique problems and challenges for new and experienced legal professionals alike.This becomes especially pronounced when working to meet compliance requirements with clients operating multinational enterprises, as your data protection role suddenly evolves to encompass mediation of diverse and unpredictable risks involving legal systems, many data subject categories, various electronic processing systems and new technologies, local specificities, allocated resources, and diverging management priorities within a company itself.On top of the interaction of differing existing privacy legislation, the rapid evolution of the IT sector has opened an enormous field of privacy related questions yet to be even properly considered within virtually any legal system in the world, which means working in data protection and privacy protection will remain a hugely important, interesting, and growing industry for legal and IT professionals for decades to come.

Delegated by employer to temporarily fill the role of a Data Protection Officer / DPO in L'Oréal Adria Balkan Hub covering Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia and Bulgaria, until the return of the permanent DPO. During the period of one year, the work involved all of the regular duties of a DPO, including contract review, training other employees in privacy and GDPR, drafting documents and notices related to personal data privacy, offering advice and insight, and other related work.

During my stint as a Telecommunications Technician, the job focus was laying out and optimizing fiber optic connectivity throughout a diverse number of urban environments. Responsibilities included the meticulous setup and maintenance of fiber optic systems to enhance the efficiency of binary data transmission via optic cables. Proficiency in configuring routers and switches was leveraged to design networks that served as efficient home and business digital ecosystems replacing the aging coaxial and copper designs. Addressing connectivity issues through systematic troubleshooting and finding technical and practical design solutions and communicating them with the team members and network operators was the main challenge of the position.In essence, the role played an interesting and practical part in ensuring the smooth and efficient transition of many digital systems in Zagreb to the newest available optic standards.

Engaged in occasional IT work of various nature:- System installations (out-of-the-box computer setups)- Hardware installations (computer assembly)- Basic networking and router/switch setups for small office use- DNS management (mail setup, DMARC etc.)- Web design (primarily Wordpress)
