Design And Technical Lead - Southwark Construction
CurrentMy role is to support the ambitious design and delivery programme by providing architectural and technical leadership and advice across all projects. The programme is to deliver 11,000 new homes with a commitment for the next 4 years of 1,500 new council and key worker accommodation along with 2,500 homes being currently delivered. I work in collaboration with all Strategic Leads in the development and delivery of design and in supporting the development of strategic plans to deliver viable schemes of new homes and estate rebuilding. Scheme values up to £95m covering all RIBA work stages.- Provide technical design advice and support including value engineering exercises, design reviews, assessing contractor proposals and variations at all stages. - Support on all council wide project teams as the expert client on design matters. - Provide a comprehensive, internal advisory service influencing at all stages of the delivery process- Review capital estimates and capital bids for value for money and quality design. - Key attendee on all project teams that critically appraises designs and proposes viable enhancements that optimise value and mitigate risk. - Create, maintain and continually improve the processes, procedures and our design and technical documents which includes leading on quality management, compliance and assurance processes, including change control and management of Southwark’s Employer Requirements. - Proactively work with senior officers, internal and external stakeholders- Lead on new and modern technical aspects of design and construction- Ensure relevant training opportunities are provided to colleagues which provide adequate knowledge to act as informed clients on design and technical aspects of their projects. - To scope, commission and manage technical advisory contracts required.
