Marion has 30+ years as a transportation professional having worked for two large urban mass transit companies, whose agencies employed a diverse population of 10,000+ employees. In her role as a transportation professional, she is most noted for having both Transportation Operations Management and Bus/Rail Maintenance expertise as well as being able to partner with the Los Angeles Trade-Technical College to establish a two-year associate degree program in Rail Systems Technology. Ms. Colston has led large-scale organizational initiatives and functioned as an internal consultant to senior management. Marion strives to create a diverse and inclusive workforce to reflect the communities and employees served by both transit properties. Marion Jane Colston, serves as the Senior Director, Strategic & Organizational Planning for Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro), where she leads a team of talented and dedicated professionals responsible for filling positions with the highest quality candidates to meet LA Metro’s business needs. In this role, her team oversees the company’s Transportation Gateway Programs which introduces the next generation of the workforce to careers in transportation. Marion has resumed leadership of the Next Generation Workforce Development Programs, working with internal/external stakeholders to build a diverse and inclusive culture by offering summer high school internships, college internships and entry-level training opportunities to recent college graduates.
