National Assembly friendship groups bring together MNAs with a particular interest in a foreign country. Their primary goal is to forge links between French and foreign parliamentarians; they are also players in France's foreign policy and instruments of the National Assembly's international influence.Their approval by the Bureau of the Assembly is mandatory and subject to conditions. When it is not possible to create a friendship group with an internationally recognized State, the Bureau may approve an international study group with the same administrative and financial means.The main activity of friendship groups is the organization of missions to the counterpart parliament and receptions of foreign parliamentary delegations. These missions and receptions must have been authorized in advance by the Office of the National Assembly, which sets their annual program.
