    I completed a Master's in Education with a focus on Project Management within the fields of Education and Social work with support from the U.S. Fulbright Student Program. Courses (economics, law, project development, sociology of education, pedagogy, etc) were entirely in French. I wrote two dissertations related to immigrant youth experiences in their countries of origin, their migration routes, and their experiences in France, cultural and artistic programming within NGOs and welcome classes, identity development, childhood trauma, West African, French and American education systems, colonization, slavery, and the evolution of immigration policy. I drew from the fields of anthropology, sociology, history, education, africana studies, media studies, and interviews I conducted with 100 immigrant youth and 20 volunteers and thousands of hours of participant observation.

    Droit à l'école is an NGO which prepares immigrant youth (largely from West Africa and Afghanistan) for enrollment in French schools through welcome classes, supports them throughout their studies, and helps them find jobs. The association has 100 volunteers and supports over 300 youth. As a volunteer (3 months) and full-time intern (1 year total), I was a French teacher (4 levels - literacy, A1, A2, B1), substitute teacher (Science, Math), English teacher (for the class I created), volunteer coordinator, arts program/field-trip coordinator, 'school referent' for four students (in the absence of a legal guardian), co-lead of the 'school referent' branch of the association, and association board member. I also created and led a weekly after-school theater workshop and organized two end-of-the year performances in which students performed an original play based on their experiences as well as original improv sketches in collaboration with professional actors from a Parisian improv troupe.
