I am a social computing researcher currently working on a project at the CIIA (Innovation Center on Artificial Intelligence for Health) focused on integrating Responsible AI principles—fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics—into AI-driven decision-making projects. Previously, I was a research scientist at IBM Research Labs for 7 years, where I actively contributed to developing innovative solutions. My interests lie in understanding and addressing social issues, such as fake news, hate speech, and the underrepresentation of marginalized communities on digital platforms. Recently, I have expanded my interests to Responsible AI, focusing on the ethical and societal impact of AI and developing auditing processes to design, monitor, and implement fair, safe, and accountable AI systems.My recent work, published in top-tier venues such as ICWSM, The Web Conference, CHI, and WebScience, highlights my commitment to impactful research. I have also served on the program committees of major social media and web conferences, including ICWSM, WWW, ASONAM, IC2S2, and journals such as PLOS ONE, ACM TSC, ACM TOIT, Elsevier I & PM, and IEEE TTS. Additionally, I am dedicated to promoting diversity in STEM, co-creating the WINDS (Women in Data Science) workshop. I hold a Ph.D. from UFMG in Brazil and an M.A. degree from Boston University.
