I was hired by Bupa to provide care to elderly and physically disabled residents, to which the company offered me full training so I could carry out my job guaranteeing the highest standard of care. We work in 12 hour shifts to provide 24 hour care to the residents in the home - assisting them with personal care, diet needs, companionship, and occasionally escorting them to appointments. We also report any concerns to the nurse on duty, document every task carried out with each resident as per the law and company’s policies & procedures.

I was hired by St George’s Home Care to provide care to elderly and physically disabled clients, to which the company offered me full training so I could carry out my job while ensuring the highest standard of care. Our shifts were made of weekly rotas, which varied week to week, and were between 7 AM and 10 PM. My job consisted of helping our clients according to the care plan that stated their personal needs. This included personal care, diet needs, administrating medication, cleaning chores, shopping, companionship, visits to the doctors, hospital visits (and other appointments), safety checks and any other chores the client may have needed help with.

In this job I moved to a family home in London where I was looking after a boy and girl, aged 3 and 2 years old respectively. I worked from 6 AM until 9 PM which included; getting them up in the mornings, preparing their breakfast, and getting them ready for school. The boy went to school every weekday whilst the girl went to nursery school twice a week. When the girl stayed home I would take her to activities in children centres, playgroups and sleepovers. The boy would join us on school holidays as well. After they got home I would help them with their homework and register their progress daily. I would prepare the girl’s meals throughout the day, help them with their baths, and prepare the family dinner so we could all eat together. After dinner we would play before getting them ready for bed and preparing everything for the next day.

As a part of my CET Multimedia Product Development, described in the Education section of this document, I was assigned to Serlima Clean for my 3 month internship in Graphic Design. On my internship I worked from 8 AM until 5PM every weekday with another colleague creating flyers, brochures, catalogue covers, roll ups, e-mail signatures, photography, creating montages, video editing, database management, and using MS Office. I also performed other administrative chores such as filing, photocopying and receptionist duties upon the company’s request.
