About Marisa Orr

I am a senior M&A / ECM lawyer, with broad expertise across domestic and cross-border M&A transactions (both public and private), ECM (including IPOs) and other corporate transactions. I regularly advise on corporate head office matters, primarily in relation to Corporations Act and ASX Listing Rules compliance, continuous disclosure obligations and corporate governance (including whistleblowing). Originally from Scotland, I was raised in the UK and spent the first decade of my professional career in London. Who would have thought a secondment to Sidley’s Capital Markets Team in Sydney would see me meet my partner and prompt a relocation to Perth?! In addition to my full-time role as an M&A / ECM lawyer, I have a full-time role raising two young boys. Juggling both roles keeps me very busy (sometimes slightly manic) but very fulfilled! I love being a lawyer and I love being a mum. I’m driven by setting a strong example for my boys, and for other women in the legal industry, by being actively involved in family life and thriving in my career. As a proud member of the Corrs’ Perth Gender Equality Committee, I’m passionate about the importance of gender equality and fostering a culture of respect and inclusiveness. I’m lucky to be surrounded by people who inspire, support and understand the challenges of balancing home and work commitments. I am known for my passion, determination and drive, and ability to deliver practical and commercial outcomes for clients.
