Marisa Renee Lee is an advocate, entrepreneur, and frequently called upon speaker and writer. Marisa serves as the CEO of the social impact consulting firm Beacon Advisors, co-founder of Supportal, an online platform that makes it easier for people to respond when someone they care about is faced with a life-changing challenge such as death, serious illness, pregnancy loss, or divorce. She is the author of the forthcoming book, Grief is Love: Living with Loss, out on April 12th, 2022. Until 2017 Marisa was the Managing Director of President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper Alliance (now a project of the Obama Foundation), a nonprofit born out of President Obama's call to action to address the barriers to success that boys and young men of color disproportionately face along the life path. Previously Marisa served as an advisor in the Obama Administration first as a political appointee at the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and later in the White House as a Senior Policy Advisor on the Domestic Policy Council and as President Obama’s Deputy Director of Private Sector Engagement. Marisa has been a featured speaker at several forums including SXSW and is an often called upon contributor for various cable news programs. She has authored op-eds on race, access to opportunity, grief, and infertility for CNN, Refinery29, Bustle, Thrive, Philanthropy News Digest, Option B, News One, and a host of other outlets. She is also a regular contributor for Vogue and Glamour.
