The International Architecture Biennial Rotterdam (IABR) 2018 ‘ The Missing Link’ examined the sustainable development for the future in the delta. In the context of IABR–Atelier Rotterdam, Team1010 examined ways to take the next step in MerweVierhavens (M4H) transformation into a breeding ground for the circular manufacturing industry at IABR–Test Site M4H+. How can area development in M4H contribute to Rotterdam’s ambitious goals to realize a fully circular society with closed material cycles by 2050?In my role as researcher I was responsible for:- conducting on-site research for the project called ‘What Do You Need?’ investigating the needs and the possibilities on the area by identifying 3 material streams that could be viable, defining where local stakeholders were in the chain by conducting SWOT analysis for achieving sustainability and circular economy - organizing brainstorming sessions with local and national stakeholders to discuss possibilities, exchange know-how and broaden vision of all parties and to test insights from the on-site research https://iabr.nl/en/projectatelier/

The Afrikaanderwijk Cooperative links existing workspaces, entrepreneurs, producers, social organizations with the market. This is achieved by encouraging sustainable local production, knowledge exchange, cultural development and entrepreneurship based on shared responsibility and participation. The goal is to make Rotterdam South, and specifically the Afrikaander district, a stronger and financially more stable area with active inhabitants and entrepreneurs.As projectmanager I developed and managed 3 different micro businesses as projects.
