Founder and managing director of specialty natural sea salt company Marisol®. Having worked as a PR consultant and IT journalist in Germany until 2001, Andrea relocated to Portugal to launch her artisan salt business with Nico Boer († 2011) from a kitchen table. Since then, she has turned Marisol into a sustainable and profitable company, producing retail and bulk Flor de Sal and traditional sea salt (Sal tradicional). Andrea is passionate about food and the Algarve's natural Atlantic sea salts. She is co-author of the award winning Algarve Fish Book.
