About Marisol Ramos

Born and raised in the Bronx, Marisol is a 2013 graduate of the Dual Masters program in Public Policy and Higher Education at the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy and at the School of Education at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She earned a B.A in English Literature and Women Studies with Honors from Hunter College, City University of New York in 2006. Marisol has experience in youth organizing, campaign development and immigration policy at the local and national level. She previously worked as a Program Associate at the New World Foundation in New York managing the Phoenix Fund for Workers and Communities, which provides organizational and philanthropic support to grantee immigrant rights organizations in the US and Mexico. Marisol also co-founded the national United We Dream Network, was campaign manager for the Dream is Coming project and co-founded and serves as board member of the New York State Youth Leadership Council.As a graduate student, Marisol worked as a graduate student research assistant for the National Forum on Higher Education for the Public Good. At the National Forum, Marisol has helped work on mixed method research projects assessing educational opportunities for undocumented students. Marisol has also helped develop the uLEAD Network website, an online action hub for institutional leaders to address complex challenges related to access to higher education of undocumented students. Marisol has also served as chair of the Students of Color in Public Policy and as Board Member of the President’s Advisory Committee on Labor Standards and Human Rights at the University of Michigan. Marisol has been featured in the New York Times, Latina Magazine, Los Angeles Times, Chronicle of Higher Education, New York Magazine, New York Daily News, PBS, El Diario/LaPrensa for her work with undocumented youth.
