For three years I worked in various capacities on the restructuring of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL), a procurement process to select a contractor to manage the Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL). I wrote the briefing material for our Deputy Minister to support his dual roles on the Boards of AECL and CNL. My previous position from 2011-2012 was as a Policy Analyst in the Science and Technology Strategy group where I held the pen on our departmental policy on Science and Technology publications, which is currently in force. During my more than four years at Natural Resources Canada I have prepared oral and written briefing materials for executives including my Directors, the Minister, and all levels in between. I have held the pen and contributed content for Cabinet documents. I have chaired several working groups with interdepartmental participation. I have worked closely with external advisors. I have researched and recommended policy options. I also, along with three other NRCan young professionals, developed the departmental tagline that is branded on all internal communication documents. I worked on special surveys that investigate chemical contaminants in food products and produce reports on these surveys for the public. In particular we investigated imported food products, those that cross provincial lines, and others that aren't currently CFIA-regulated commodities (i.e. milk and meat which are covered under separate regulations.)

In the Science Policy Division, I prepared briefings and scenario notes, researched and wrote a report on EC's Related Scientific Activities (RSA) and how they contribute to the departmental service obligations, planned for a branch-wide meeting of managers and senior scientists, and supported the Canada S&T Arctic Strategy working group, among other activities.
