When filling out college applications my top pick without hesitation was The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, specifically the Environmental Studies (or Science depending on the year) program. I can't say what exactly brought me to that decision but I never once waivered. When early decision day came I was ready to declare my major and get to work on the spot. My four years there were driven by a copy of a spreadsheet, filled out and color-coded every single semester to document my progress towards my degree.Roughly 17 years later, I still have not waivered from that choice. When the time came to make the decision about going for my LSRP license, there was no hesitation. This is what I wanted to do, no question. Whether it be wandering through the woods, in the snow, while pregnant to get surface water and sediment samples; digging through NJDEP files to sort out the history of a project older than me; or working with my colleagues on whatever the latest headache may be. I thoroughly enjoy it all.When I am not on the clock I am usually in our "magical" yard with my children, tending to the various plants intentionally and unintentionally growing throughout. Watching our friendly neighborhood pollinators descend on our lavender stand and making magic wands. It seems their time in the field with me has had an impact and its awesome.
