Since moving to New York in 2005, Marissa has worked at the seams of multiple disciplines within the field of architecture—design, historic preservation, interiors, and graphics—with marketing and communications at the core of her work. In late 2015, she transitioned from her role as the Director of Marketing for an award-winning, Manhattan-based architecture firm to being an independent historic preservation specialist. Her new role allows her to contribute more of her preservation planning and research expertise to architecture projects that have government agency oversight, and to undertake studies and resource surveys. Marissa has considerable experience working with non-profits, both as a board member and as a consultant. She spent six years on the boards of two organizations: DOCOMOMO NY/Tri-State, the local chapter of an international organization devoted the documentation and conservation of buildings and landscapes of the Modern Movement, and the Historic Districts Council, a New York City-based preservation advocacy group for historic neighborhoods. Her clients include community organizations and advocacy groups.
