As a Lab Technician I give students access to their school portal accounts, fixed passwords and wi-fi problems, fixed printers, and sometimes helped students with their homework or any other questions that they had. My goal for this job was to ALWAYS find a solution to the persons problem, even if it took me a long time to figure out.

My Father works as a sales rep. out in the Utah area for McGraw Hill. I found out about this internship through him. In dubuque, I work in an office and have been working on editing discipline flyers for the upcoming books, making excell documents that display lots of information about smartbook, learnsmart, connect, and other McGraw-Hill products. I have learned a lot about the book publishing industry and it's been a great experience.

Cedar North Elementary

The ArtsBridge America program, recently restored at SUU, is providing SUU undergraduates the opportunity of teaching Cedar North Elementary students about the importance of art.ArtsBridge America is a program funded by a grant from the Dana Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to improving education, and it was brought to SUU through the College of Performing and Visual Arts. The goal of the program is to keep art in K-12 schools through emphasizing its importance in curriculum. ArtsBridge also provides service learning opportunities to SUU students.

I had a blast being the Assistant Percussion Instructor at Ogden High School the summer of 2012. I drove into morning rehearsals about 3 times a week, and traveled with the whole marching band to band camp in Idaho! I helped students first learn what was on the page, and then make it into beautiful music. This required sometimes adding a lot more or less dynamics than originally planned for. I also had to re-write a lot of music because a few people dropped out in the middle of the season. That was challenging for me to combine 3 parts for 1 player, but somehow made it work. As one of my first music teaching jobs, I had a great time and it really taught me a lot about teaching in general.
