Organized a Weekend-Of-Action in support of Medicare-for-All with the California Nurses Association. Successfully oversaw more than 100 canvasses, putting on at least one event in every single Assembly district in the state of California. As a result of this historic weekend, we engaged more than 10,000 people in the fight to pass a S.B. 562, which would establish a Single Payer healthcare system in the state.

Broward County, Florida, United States

Launched a voter registration office in Fort Lauderdale, FL, which helped to register 13,000 residents of Broward County. Oversaw the hiring, training, and management of over 70 staff during the course of the season. Managed our budget of over $200,000 and completed payroll for all employees. Planned and facilitated staff meetings and trainings for the Assistant Director team, our Field Managers, and the canvassing staff. Designed and implemented campaign strategy for our office operations, including a complex turf plan. Supervised coalition dynamics with other voter registration groups and dozens of businesses.

Denver, Colorado

Selected out of 1,650 applicants for a position in Green Corps’ Field School for Environmental Organizing. Received 8 weeks of classroom training on organization building, media outreach, recruitment, leadership development, strategic campaign planning, coalition building, fundraising, public speaking, and more.

New Paltz, Ny

Coordinated Hudson Valley efforts for New York’s GMO Labeling Bill campaign. Built a strong coalition of 22 local farms, restaurants, organizations, and businesses. Organized a press conference with New York State Assemblymember Cahill, which received 3 media hits. Held a lobby meeting with Assemblymember Gunther, resulting in her cosponsorship of the New York GMO labeling bill. Managed 2 interns, recruited over 50 volunteers, and turned out 35 New Yorkers for a 250 person statewide rally. Generated over 100 calls, 1,000 petition signatures, and 25 handwritten letters into Assemblymembers’ offices.

Fort Collins, Colorado Area

Initiated the “Road to Paris” Campaign at Colorado State University (CSU) and the University of Colorado at Boulder. Oversaw the recruitment and training of over 50 volunteers, while managing 13 “core volunteers” and 11 student interns. Built a coalition at CSU of 16 student groups, 1 college within the university, 6 professors, and 10 local businesses. Generated 5,000 petitions calling on President Obama to uphold a strong agreement at COP21. Organized a day of action event that turned out 350 students, helping to earn our national campaign a thank you letter from President Obama. Planned and executed a panel and press conference, attended by 85 students. Received 5 published media hits for our work at CSU to help fight climate change. Organized a robust student group that was eager to continue working on climate issues. Designed a campaign plan for students to implement after the Paris Climate Talks, which called on CSU’s administration to commit to using 100% renewable energy by 2030. After 1 year of organizing, the studentssucceeded and the university’s President pledged to take bold action to meet this goal.

Tended a seven acre farm, grew and harvested produce and herbs, and maintained our small orchard. Specialized in medicinal and culinary herbs as well as product development and production. Managed the "Herb Crew," a sub-business of the garden that supported a staff of between 5-8 employees. Maintained finances and records, facilitated weekly crew meetings, trained employees, managed shifts, and created weekly workplans for the Herb Crew. Designed and implemented seeding and harvest plans. Helped coordinate the summer farmer’s market and CSA preparation. Organized large annual sale, where artisans could sell their locally sourced, sustainable products to Asheville community.

Asheville, Nc.

Completed an AmeriCorps term and received an award for my work as a Bonner Scholar. Acted as the formal liaison between local environmental nonprofits in Western North Carolina and Warren Wilson College. Worked alongside environmental organizations to identify their volunteer needs, coordinate service trips, and facilitate educational workshops on topics such as local water quality, insulation of homes in low-income communities, invasive species management on public lands, and other issues impacting Buncombe County. Oversaw and trained Warren Wilson Service Programs staff that were focused on environmental issues. Engaged in extensive trainings on equity, inclusion, cultural competency, effective leadership, facilitation, and group process.
