I worked with Dr. David Lansing at UMBC, studying the changes in forest cover in Costa Rica from 2001 to 2011. I used Landsat aerial imagery to determine forest cover in land parcels that are registered for the Payment for Ecosystem Services program. This included work in Microsoft Excel to produce additional relevant figures for the research project.

I was responsible for updating and organizing of the arboretum's geodatabase, including the development of a coding system for over 4,000 woody plants. Entries were also updated to include relevant information, and additional structures were added to maps that have since been built.A series of over 50 maps were created, showing the location and identification numbers of all trees and relevant buildings and public amenities. These were then distributed to staff members to make it easier to navigate the extensive property.

Assisted with GLOBE research project at UMBC under the direction of Dr. Nicholas Magliocca and Dr. Erle Ellis, primarily by working to create the metadata that is associated with many of the sites and papers that can be found through the GLOBE search engine. I also participated in the project as a case validator, verifying the accuracy of the data produced before allowing it to be public on the site.
