Responsible for planning and conducting drilling operations for wells on Statfjord field. Planning tasks included, among others, well path design, torque & drag simulations, hydraulic simulations, selection of appropriate downhole equipment. During operations the main task was to ensure updated detailed operational procedures, roadmap plots and direct communication with vendors to ensure progress in operation.

Responsible for running the Technical Sidetrack project where the main objective was to reduce the costs related to technical sidetrack operations with 50%. The project group performed detailed post analysis of the technical sidetracks to capture the root cause distribution. Based on these results, the project group established a set of best practices for drilling activities and downhole problem mechanisms. The output from this project was a governing document and a tally book describing potential downhole problems and how to approach these, and a set of e-learning modules and a two-day course which both focus on improving the understanding of these mechanisms and the importance of applying the proper corrective actions.Wrote a SPE paper, SPE/IADC 105566, “Detailed Post-Event Analysis of Drilling Problems Significantly Alters the Root Cause Reality for Technical Sidetracks” by Marit Blaasmo/Statoil; Arne V. Main focus on sand prediction and sand control. Responsible for performing and evaluating FEM analysis to predict sand potential for specific wells and fields. Performed a larger sand prediction study for the Snorre field. Provide operational support to other sections within Drilling & Evaluation as well as to the customer, i.e. evaluation and supporting the service INTEQ delivers to the customer. This operational support includes, among other factors, analysis of recommended BHAs (with e.g. BHASys Pro software), planning of field specific BHA, technical assistance with special applications and specialized failure finding (Challenge Response Team – CRT). Headed the last CRT for Maersk Oil & Gas which received positive feedback from both the customer and also from our own organization. Have been a part of the Troll Performance Group (TPG) since October 2002, which follows the operations on the Troll field. The objective of this group is to optimize the drilling performance through e.g. analysis of offset data, total BHA design and daily follow-up of the ongoing operations. This has led to enhanced performance on the Troll field since the group was established. Work particularly with Statoil, Norsk Hydro, Maersk Oil & Gas, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil and TOTAL operations.

Responsible for implementation and daily management of the remote operations centre (BEACON) in Stavanger, Norway. The main focus was establishing and implementing new work processes and procedures based on thorough analysis of existing conditions and work processes. This also implied close co-operation with various customers (especially BP and Norsk Hydro) for support and follow-up of their BEACON operations. Due to the novelty of the concept, this position also required frequent presentations to customers, to the Norwegian Government (the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate – NPD) and also attending various conferences (e.g. SPE Advanced Technology Workshop on “Off Well Site Decision Making”, Austin Texas).Participated in writing a SPE paper: SPE 78336 “Improving Team Capability and Efficiency by Moving Traditional Rig-Site Services Onshore” by M. Provide support with regards to optimization of the service INTEQ delivers to the customer. This included analysis of recommended BHAs and planning of field specific BHAs. Developed the first edition of an “Engineering Checklist” to standardize the INTEQ well planning process and to ensure best possible preparation before the deployment is initiated. This checklist has been further developed throughout the years and in the latest months it has become part of a more advanced handover system (BEST) which currently is being tested in Norway. Taught Ec*Trak (well planning software) courses in Norway (x 2) and Trinidad (x 1). Filled in as project leader on Heidrun field (Statoil) during periods of vacation. Specific customer focus towards Statoil, ExxonMobil, Norsk Hydro and BP.
