Evaluation is essential, improvements can be made by listening to stakeholders and by measuring impact. I lead project teams to develop Logic and Theory of Change models and use quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods to look at the socio-economic impact of policies and programmes of work. I have experience of leading evaluation projects for The Royal Academy of Engineering, The British Academy, Natural England, Innovate UK, the European Commission, the Scottish Government, NHS and in the third sector. Topics include innovation, academic research, enterprise, net zero, sustainability, nature restoration, education and health. I enjoy working with clients and stakeholders, developing new strategies and leading the successful implementation of business plans. I founded the charity ‘What? Why? Children in Hospital’ to help families prepare for procedures in hospital and reduce anxiety in children and parents. I developed a range of digital resources including 65 information videos, an app, animations and infographics, which have now been used by more than 30 million people across the world. I have a PhD degree and postdoctoral research experience in biomedical research and worked in plant biotechnology and food science research.
