This project aims to analyzing in depth the acts of solidarity which are being developed across Europe, the extent to which they respond to dialogic and inclusive processes, the related outcomes and the policy developments. The project starts from previous findings on successful actions which are combating the crisis – by creating employment or improving access to health – through acts of solidarity. The internationally comparative project is centred on “the turn to parenting”, the new focus of both science and politics on parental practices, and in particular the welfare state’s role in these developments. Recent programmes – for example “Triple P: Positive Parenting Programme” – as well as other parenting-oriented interventions are proving very popular in Europe and suggest a new logic underlying child- and family-related social policies.Focusing on a range of parenting-related interventions, the project will research and compare the background to the new interest in parents within and across countries, how parenting interventions function in practice, the factors, actors and interests that are driving them and the consequences in terms of child well-being and readjusted relationships between parents, children, families and society.
