I am an application developer with over 15 years’ experience working on software development initiatives in the steel manufacturing industry. As an application developer, I am responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, monitoring, and maintaining solutions according to set standards and processes.I have a significant amount of experience in relational database design (I have a solid understanding of the use of tables, constraints, indexes, triggers, and views), Oracle SQL and PLSQL development (packages, procedures, functions, triggers), Oracle Forms, Oracle 11g database, SQL Developer, and data conversion. I also possess skills in SQL development (functions, procedures), .NET development (vb.net and asp.net), and Git. I have lately been involved in a proof-of-concept project using Blazor and C# on Oracle and SQL.In addition, I am also proficient in other areas such as quality assurance of developed products (code reviews), presentations, giving training, interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work in a team. I enjoy acquiring new skills.I have a B.Sc. Honours Degree in Computer Science from the North-West University. I started my career as a high school teacher, but soon realized that I rather want to pursue a career in IT. I accepted a position as system analyst. I was involved in a major re-engineering project of an existing legacy system at a steel manufacturer. This entailed various sub-systems and the integration between these systems.I later accepted the position of senior system specialist – data. As data specialist, I was responsible for the quality assurance of deliverables resulting from the analysis and design phase, and relational database design of projects. I made a career change to real estate agent for a while, but returned to my first love, IT. I was employed as independent contractor in the role of application developer at Gijima Holdings (Pty) in May 2016. I accepted my current position as Specialist, Manufacturing Execution Systems CoE at ArcelorMittal South Africa in September 2020.Outside of work, I tutor mathematics to high school learners from time to time. I am often involved in fundraising for the local Hospice. I have written a small booklet about my journey with grief as I have lost my 12-year-old daughter to cancer. I hope that the booklet will encourage those to whom I have gifted a copy. I enjoy travelling and hosting friends.
