I have been a licensed EMT-B in Maryland since June, 2020. This achievement was through my affiliation with Kensington Volunteer Fire Department where I got my start as an eager 16 year old in 2019.After a couple of years of EMS experience, I transitioned to a hospital setting. I was an Emergency Department Technician for one year which helped bridge my understanding of the continuation of care from ambulance to emergency room. I learned some new skills such as how to insert IVs, perform EKGs, splint with Orthoglass, work closely with physicians, physician assistants, nurses, and experienced technicians. Now I am furthering my understanding of continuation of care through my new position as an EMT in the private medical transportation service. I am lucky to have insight into specialized care while picking up patients from different departments such as ICU, Neurological, Hospice, Rehabilitation, etc in some of the best hospitals in the area. I am always looking for hands-on experience and exposure to new concepts and ideas, so I may build or strengthen what I’ve already learned. The future is exciting. There’s always room for growth.
