Maritza Mora is a Chico State graduate with a BA in English Literature with a few scraggly minors in creative writing, food studies, and great books & ideas. Originally hailing from East Los Angeles, she eventually came to work with the nonprofit, bilingual publisher Cubanabooks Press in translation editing. True to her major, Maritza has published poetry in Third Point Press, poetry in Honey & Lime Literary Magazine, and fiction with Salt Hill Journal. In the North State campus, Maritza worked in the Department of Multicultural and Gender Studies where she found the academic face of diversity on campus to be a welcoming and fruitful venture. There, Maritza worked on outreach and office support for the department, updating the entire website and helping to craft branded outreach materials. The department also hosted and cosponsored diversity-centered events for the entire North State community ranging from the inception of an annual Native American storytelling event to outreach for highschool and other prospective students on where our diverse, advocacy-driven majors and minors can lead students to help change the world.Maritza has also dabbled in the field of mental health through work with the on-campus group U-Matter. She was also one of many prose editors for The Watershed Review's Spring 2015 edition and a poetry editor for the same Chico State Publication this Fall of 2017. After doing Public Relations with Cubanabooks for 2017, she began working on translation editing through Cubanabooks until 2019. Maritza likes to play with art as well, creating literature-themed comics and illustrations in her spare time and as fun projects. She hopes to work with editing but also still keep avenues open for publishing, art, and graphic design.Maritza has fallen deeply in love with the world of operations, starting in the shipping department at A&A Global Imports in 2019 as a Logistics Specialist. As Receiving Facilitator, Maritza continued in the world of warehouse operations to help her fellow workers continue to push record-breaking numbers and her management team in implementing and testing new changes in their systems. This came with a boost to the Accounting Department and Purchasing as well. As Project Coordinator, Maritza applies all the operational know-how she's earned into ensuring custom projects of all kinds are put into production and delivered to the customer from start to finish with the same care and dedication each project deserves. This includes work from the build-up of a designthrough the delivery to the client's hands.
