About Maritza Mohammed

A confident, adaptable, and passionate student, currently studying at George Brown College in the Event Planning Program along with working for the Student Association at GBC as their SA Connect & Welcome Support Staff. I transferred from York University where I studied Communication and Media Studies with a minor in Marketing and during my tenure I worked on improving community engagement on campus as I was apart of New College Council which includes the role of President in 2020, York Orientation Directors Association (YODA), College Presidents Association (CPA), York Lions Dance Club (YLDC), Orientation Leader & Captain, Peer Mentor, and Marketing Students Society (MSS). In these associations I was put into situations where I was pushed to thrive and was able to develop my skills as a leader and team member. I learned the importance of effective communication and that every goal can be accomplished with excellent team work. I am now pursuing a career in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry with an industry focus in Event Planning. I plan to utilize my time at George Brown College to gain the foundational skills to be successful in the industry and network with my peers and educators to grow as a student and future working professional.
