Silverstream Technologies is the industry leader in air lubrication for merchant ships. The systems installed enable ship owners to reduce their fleet's fuel consumption, helping them align with the energy efficiency regulation set by the IMO.As a Performance Analyst, my role is to predict and verify the performance of the systems. This role spans from the start of a project, where a performance estimate and initial system arrangement is required, to the commissioning and follow up of said projects, verifying the in service performance of ship and system.With the help of Data scientists, Data engineers and Software engineers we will be building tools to automate the performance evaluation, and use data to optimise the system.

Francqueville is a shipyard specialised in Aluminium hulled vessels, as well as ribs for the professional sector. All boats are semi or fully custom, designed in house.My main responsibility is to work on the concept design of an innovative hull type that aims to be very efficient thanks to the use of hydrofoils, and will be powered using an alternative fuel: Hydrogen. Starting from an initial idea, the design has been refined through various iterations using first principles and is currently being assessed through dynamic CFD calculations using NUMECA Fine Marine software. Results from this assessment will provide data for further design refinement, and help decide whether or not the concept is feasible.Other responsibilities include:- Production design of parts on semi-custom models. All boats are fully Modelled in CAD using Rhino.- File preparation for machine cutting of materials.- Regular reviews of build progress on yard. Occasional redesigning of parts when there has been a production mishap.

La Reserve des Arts is a non-profit organisation that provides the operational platform to enable circular economy in the French cultural industry. I joined under a volunteer contract to help set up processes for life cycle analysis of the operations of the company. Fully aware that their activity helped reduce consumption of new product, and so avoids some greenhouse gas emissions, the aim was to be able to measure this quantitatively.My responsibilities where:- Understand the operations of the company in order to describe the greenhouse gas flows created by these (emitted and avoided).- Build an internal CO2e database that is relevant to the products sold by the company.- Build an Excel based tool to help estimate the greenhouse gases avoided by specific operations.- Manage an LCA online based tool to accurately represent the overall greenhouse gas flows of the company over the years 2019 and 2020.- Provide suggestions on how to further increase accuracy and traceability.

I was employed as an apprentice over the summer of 2017 within a company specialising on repair of composite hulls and components in France. During my time there I gained practical knowledge on the use of composites and their manufacturing methods. I also got the opportunity to work on a wide variety of ships, from a 50 m SuperYacht, or cruising sailing yachts, to small power boats. I was able to obtain a detailed understanding of the challenges that come with maintenance and repairs on ships, and how important it is to consider this at the design stage of the craft.

I was employed as an internship during 2 months in the summer of 2016. Being an engineering student, my task was to create a comprehensive document comparing key dimensions of products from rival companies with BENETEAU's own products. This document could then be used by the marketing team to valorise the product. This work was done using AutoCAD 2 dimensional software.
