CurrentMERIC name is mentioned in the history of France since the Middle Ages, around the year 1100.Knight Meric, famous Crusader, then made a promise to bury his golden armor under an oak in its field if he returned safe and sound from the Crusades. Having kept his promise, he would then have the great honor of being knighted by King Saint Louis.The Château Méric was then the largest vineyard in the Médoc, it was divided by "Le Comte de LUSSAY" who squandered the wealth of the ladies Rosemond heirs of the vineyard. Ayant tenu promesse, il eût alors l’immense honneur d’être anobli par le Roi Saint-Louis.Le domaine du Château Méric était alors le plus grand vignoble du Médoc, il fût morcelé par le Comte de Lussay qui dilapida la fortune des demoiselles de Rosemond héritières du vignoble. Le terroir de Château Méric déjà cité « Crû Bourgeois » dans la 2ème édition du Ferret 1868 en tête de la commune de Jau Dignac et Loirac.Les vins de Château Méric étaient appréciés pour leurs finesses, les tanins soyeux mariés à des arômes de fruits rouges et de vanille, qui en faisaient un vin particulièrement recherché.La nouvelle équipe dirigeante a fait renaître le nom et la réputation en conjuguant la tradition et les technologies de pointe de vinification et d’élevage du vin.
