Worked most of the time in Northern Norway, Scotland and Shetland on several different wellboats in the fleet. Of more extraordinary experience it can be mentioned that I participated in sailing the first wellboat to the Australian shelf (See link below) and to transfer a Norwegian wellboat to our department in Puerto Montt, Chile. International Registries, Inc. and it’s affiliates provide administrative and technical support to the republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) Maritime and Corporate Registries. It is the third largest ship registry in the world with almost 4500 ships and 161 million gross tons. IRI has a network of 28 offices worldwide, and I spent three months working at the downtown office in New York.Had various tasks, but mostly my responsibilities were preparing vessel documentation before inspections, assist in drafting IMO delegation briefs for the Republic of the Marshall Islands, attend ship inspections with Flag State Specialists and prepare our office for an ISO9001 external audit, which resulted in a successful assessment. I also did some IT-work to enhance the communication process between personnel in regional offices participating in expert groups. Spent the last week of the internship with the Norwegian law firm Simonsen Vogt Wiig in Oslo (Representatives to IRI in Norway) to receive insight into the legal process. To sum it up; a great learning experience.
