After finishing my PhD in Railway inspection, I was hired by the University of Birmingham to carry out a 2 years and a half (July 2015 to January 2018) Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP). During this partnership I was seconded to work for Abtus Ltd to transfer the knowledge that I and the University had developed in order to help the company produce innovative products in the area of railway inspection.

Development of bespoke software routines that were needed by other colleagues in order to improve testing of cluster instruments. Programming was done in LabView and Excel and was aimed at integrating automatic communication with different devices (e.g. power source; oscilloscope; climate chamber) as well as creating standalone programs for specific projects.

The company was aimed at manufacturing electronic products and my role, together with my team colleagues, was to ensure proper functionality of the testing equipment. Tasks include, but not limited to: supervision of equipment; diagnostics and repair; undertaking maintenance; keeping the line supervisor and the engineers up to date with the condition/availability of the equipments. Developed experience with Omron, ICT (HP 3070 and GenRad), Takaya flying probe, 5DX X Ray and various functional tests.
