About Marius Martens
Marius Martens is the Floating Systems Manager for Intecsea and a director of Subsea Innovation Cluster Australia (SICA). Marius is a chartered engineer with the Royal Institution of Naval Architects and qualified as a Naval Architect at Newcastle University in the UK in 2000. Although originally from Bergen in Norway, he has been working in the Australian offshore and subsea industries for over 20yrs; as a Naval Architect, Riser Engineer, and these days mostly project and engineering management. In 2008 he established the Intecsea Riser Group for the ANZ region and in 2019 Marius became the Floating Systems Manager, which includes the Naval Architecture, Mooring, Hydrodynamics, Marine Structures, Marine Engineering and Riser Systems Disciplines. Marius was the elected Chairman of Subsea Energy Australia (SEA) for 7yrs and on the board of SEA for 10yrs. The floating systems group is currently working on projects in Australia and South East Asia for several clients including Santos, Woodside, Shell and PTTEP. His team have historically been involved in mainly floating productions facilities, but now are heavily involved in decommissioning and new energy. Managing Consultant for Risers Systems for the APAC region of INTECSEA. The INTECSEA ANZ riser group was established by Marius in 2008. The riser group developed from there and reached a pinnacle in carrying out, not only the original conceptual and pre-FEED design, but also the detailed design of the INPEX Ichthys Riser System. Competing globally, using their Australian expertise, this team have undertaken riser projects from all over the world; including the Gasprom Shtokman Project in Russia and the ENI Goliat Project in Norway. As a result Marius has gained riser engineering and Naval Architecture experience from all project phases: Concept Selection, FEED, Detailed Design, Procurement, Installation, Brown Field Inspection and Intervention.The ANZ riser group is currently working on projects in Australia, South East Asia and Norway for several clients including Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Woodside and Vår Energi. These projects include deep water applying Lazy Wave SCRs and Flexible Risers.

Subsea Energy Australia (SEA) is a not-for-profit industry peak body. SEA aims to increase the exposure of Australian subsea capabilities and products to local, regional and global markets. This is done through hosting events such as sundowners, networking breakfasts, the SEA business awards and Subsea Supplier Forum. Membership is by companies as opposed to individuals and at present SEA has around 120 member companies and growing. In my time as Chairman of SEA we had a number of achievements:- In 2020 SEA was successfully selected as a Federal Export Hub with a AUD1.5M grant, which was a project delivered over 2.5 years.- In 2018 SEA established the first Australian oil & gas cluster, namely Subsea Innovation Clusters Australian (SICA), which aims to promote collaboration and research by acting as a hub and coordinator for such activity.- 2018 Hosted the first Australian Subsea Pavilion at the annual AOGE now Australian Energy Exchange. - In 2017 SEA established Women in Subsea Engineering (WISE), which aims to increase female participation in the subsea industry and achieving parity.- 2020 Establishment of the Joint Industry Mentorship program- 2020 Establishment of the Joint Industry Collaboration meetings and planner such that our industry events weren't clashing.- Annually curate the AOGE now Australian Energy Exchange Subsea Conference with SUT and SubseaUK.
