Working on a research project for Professor Luisa Alemany, assessing the UK and EU university spinout ecosystems with a strong focus on ‘why?’ and ‘how many?’ ideas fail to flourish, comparing it to the ecosystem in the US. Skills & experience: Literature Review – identify and review publications, conference papers, white papers & reports to identify key steps involved in university spinout process.  Interviews – identify, contact, and interview technology transfer officers, entrepreneurs and venture capitalists to assess the factors for success/failure in university spinouts. Data gathering, analysis & presentation – identify datasets with data pertaining to UK university spinouts, data was cleaned and manipulated accordingly for exploratory data analysis which was performed using the tidyverse package in R Studio.

The role entailed both, the physical gathering of data and its comprehensive analysis, to better understand the characteristics of drug products in R&D, and predict how they would behave once in the clinic/market.

Thesis - “The effects of Low-dose IL-2 immunotherapy on immune cells in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis – an incurable motor neurone disease with immune driven pathologies”. The aim of the thesis was to gather and comprehensively analyse clinical trial patient data, to better our understating of immunotherapy in neurodegeneration and, use this metadata to predict how participants in future trials will perform

I worked as a member of a large consortium, monitoring the immune responses of individuals with autoimmune and neurodegenerative diseases.
