I established Macro Clearing in 2014, after more than 30 years gaining experience in the Clearing and Forwarding industry. What gives me a unique perspective as a Clearing Agent is the fact that I have seen the industry from both sides – I worked in both the Government- as well as the private sector with the import/export of clients’ freight at some point in his career .Right after finishing school in 1993, I started working for Customs & Excise in Cape Town, South Africa. In 1992 I was transferred to the Customs & Excise offices in Pretoria. It was during my tenure working in Pretoria that I decided to move to the private sector.Working as a Clearing Agent in the private sector, I worked for various Clearing and Forwarding Agencies, gaining invaluable experience in the Import and Export business and refining my own expertise as Clearing and Forwarding Agent. The experience gained working both for Customs and Excise and later in the private sector, has gained me a good reputation within the industry with satisfied clients, my peers and even the competition.In June 2014 I decided, together with my wife Catherine, to start my own company and I registered M.A. Odendal, T/A Macro Clearing. Catherine runs the office and is responsible for seeing that paperwork and other administrative duties are done, while I am tasked with the responsibility of seeing that all freight forwarding and clearing run smoothly with no hassle to the client.Catherine and I have been married since 1987 and have a daughter, Buhle.
