I completed my M.Sc. in Astrophysics with my two graduate supervisors; Rodrigo Fernandez and Greg Sivakoff. My thesis' topic was on black hole formation in failed supernovae. During my graduate work, I learned several critically important skills: - how to approach a problem no one else has yet dealt with, - how to critically read and assess current research, - how to synthesize and analyze information, - how to plan and manage daily problems step-by-step to add progress to the overall project, and - how to use logic and reasoning to solve each step along the way. My supervisor Craig Heinke and I worked together on and published a research project about the X-ray emissivity of low-density stellar populations. Our work was published in the high-impact Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society journal (link to paper below). My role on the project included statistical analyses using the programming language Python, writing and editing of the manuscript, and cross-comparing current research with our results.

I worked independently to improve the undergraduate physics labs by creating an overall plan to effectively and efficiently improve them. It was self-directed work that required a lot of research, lab work, and writing. I also learned to work with new technology such as 3D printing/scanning as well as 3D modelling. I also used Python to write some programs for the labs.

That involved cutting the lawn, trimming bushes and trees, spreading fertilizer, watering, cleaning the entire floor, setting up patio, weed killing and other lawn work. I also worked as a dock master for a few weeks, where I tracked what went in and out of the building.
