Associate Civil EngineerRizzo International Oct 2019 - Jan 2021Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, UsI worked as a Hydraulic and Hydrology Analyst at Vale S.A. in Brazil, where I was involved in auditing the MGM International court case. My main responsibilities included simulating the failure of cascade tailings dams utilizing big data analysis to evaluate the efficiency of downstream backup dams and reservoir capacity. I also created floodplain inundation maps and performed runoff/flood modeling. To accomplish this, I used various tools, including Python programming, ArcGIS, QGIS, HEC-HMS, FLO2D tailings tool, data analysis, HY-8, and hydraulic models developed using SRH-2D.This work required extensive geoprocessing, such as georeferencing, remote sensing, watershed/catchment/stream delineation, and DEM modification, which involved eliminating pre-existing structures, defining stream paths, and estimating reservoir bottom profiles. -
