Over the years I have experienced many opportunities starting after graduation as a Senior Shared Housing Coordinator, then moving to Workforce Development which became my "home" for many years. In that capacity I rose from the beginning stages of Eligibility, Case Manager, Job Developer and Workshop presenter (and also wrote the curriculum) to Career Center Manager and finally Business Services Manager.When I made the move to Texas I had all kinds of ideas and dreams and began the journey of what I wanted to be when I grew up. One top idea/dream was working with athletes to help them find a career path outside of the athletic world. Watching many of the young ladies who were friends or teammates of my daughter (a basketball player through elementary, high school, college and beyond) I was often struck with how so many young female athletes did not look beyond their basketball experience to see what other opportunities were out there and thus floundered once they graduated. I wanted to be a part of helping them figure out this life decision. Just was not and still not certain as to how to approach this goal. Still thinking about this... haven't given up.In the mean time I am working with the City of Waco to develop the North Waco Neighborhood Association and am now President. So exciting and and looking forward to seeing how we can help this community thrive.And of course have a space in an antique store... guess it is more of a hobby for me than an actual business.. but who knows. Just finished a Waco City Academy course that helped me understand the underpinnings of the City of Waco so that I can be a better resident and President of the Neighborhood Association. Looking for the next adventure in Waco.
