Welcome to my LinkedIN page. I am a former chemistry researcher, and a translator and editor specializing in chemistry and biomedical research. My clients are research institutions, CROs, universities, pharmaceutical and cosmetic companies, instrument manufacturers, reagents and consumable suppliers, and law firms. I also work with translation agencies helping to recruit linguists in the field of chemical and pharmaceutical translation by reviewing translation tests.I completed my BSc/MSc in Chemistry back in Spain, where I also did a few stints in the pharmaceutical industry and research institutes, and have lived in the UK since 2004.I am the author and teacher of two chemical translation courses. These courses cover aspects of Chemistry that are relevant in the translation of medical and pharmaceutical documents, including patents. Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry are covered with a special focus on terminology and potential pitfalls in translation, whilst providing a broad overview of the most relevant concepts for medical translators.I also do ESL substantive editing of scientific manuscripts on chemistry and biomedical research. To date, I have edited more than 1000 manuscripts that have been published in journals such as the Journal of Materials Chemistry, Chemical Communications, Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, and Journal of Analytical Atomic Spectrometry.Previously, I worked in the pharmaceutical sector for twelve years, primarily in drug discovery as a medicinal synthetic chemist, in heat-to-lead and lead optimization projects for a range of targets (kinases, glycolysis).
