I experienced a Pre-purchase homebuyer educator from teaching groups online or in person about the home-buying process. I am a Certified HoMEworks Educator, a HUD Certified Housing Counselor, and one of the first three in Maine to pass the rigors test 2018. Before starting this work, I had been a dispatcher for 17 years; one of my former co-workers took my homebuyer class and, after the class, told me I was where I was supposed to be. I thoroughly enjoy helping people buy homes. When I started as a Housing counselor in 2015, it was during the foreclosure crisis, and my primary role was to support those facing foreclosure by understanding their options for their specific financial situation. This has given me lots of experience with meeting people in difficult situations and using skills to keep them focused on the path forward. I was redirecting them back to the topic at hand a lot and delivering difficult news with compassion and empathy. As I strengthened my knowledge and leadership experience in the field, I was promoted to homeownership manager Experience in grant management and federal grant compliance.
