Director, Capital Project ManagementColumbia University Irving Medical Center Jun 2019 - May 2021New York, New York, UsLeadership It's been a privileged and rewarding experience to work with and lead a talented group of passionate professionals at all stages of their journeys in this industry as they manage their portfolios and contribute to crafting and standing up a Capital Management Program. Their efforts are affording themselves the opportunity to acquire lifelong skills and professional value in the following ways:1. service to the client,2. efficiencies in their day-to-day work,3. acquiring knowledge and skills in Strategy and Development of a program at the executive level, 4. receiving needed professional training, and5. developing interpersonal skills to work and achieve mutual consensus in a matrix organization as they develop their program.= tremendous value to their personal brands, career aspirations and growth. It's been exciting to promote and support the learning and development of their skill sets as they react and adapt to change in our business environment. I am equally if not more so fortunate to have learned from them and cultivated my interpersonal and leadership skills with their support.Scope of WorkWe manage Capital Investments for the Medical Center in the form of laboratory and specialty research and support areas, academic, residential, office support and clinical projects in the Greater NYC footprint. Similar to other roles I have been in, we spearhead capital initiatives of the organization while meandering through in a matrix org of stakeholders to deliver product meaningful to them while not disrupting their current operations. Projects: Wet & Dry R&D, automated/robotic freezer storage, electron microscope suites, BSL 3/4 spaces, vivarium, cadaver rooms, animal surgery, clinical spaces, auditoriums, infrastructure, data centers, residential, LL11 & LL97, fire code upgrades, pressurization clinical research, and NYP hospital fitouts. National Real Estate Project DeliveryPwc Oct 2017 - Jun 2019GbI worked for an awesome person who I admire greatly. I learned a lot from her on promoting people, the workplace design, and to manage effectively while working 100% remote. She led a remarkable team that I was proud to contribute to.Why a short stay?:PwC was a tremendous experience at a crucial time in my life: being a casualty from a downsizing at my previous organization coupled with the need for more personal time to care for a parent and their closing days, the timing could have not been more fortuitous. And the journey there lasted as the universe intended; while unbeknownst to me at hiring - to fill the time in life from the downsizing, spend needed and valuable time to say good-bye, personally reset and chart the next course of life. I am thankful for PwC.What was accomplished?:At PwC, we developed the design and build out of state-of-the-art collaborative spaces, think-tanks and environments to promote the cross-pollunization interaction of talented people and their thoughts, that will ultimately benefit society. Through the course of business my charge was to appreciate the dynamics of operating this organization from workplace and real estate perspectives; liaison with those responsible for the specific workstreams, appreciate their critical success factors, facilitate a cross functional matrix of project stakeholders while meeting project constraints and ultimately conduct our deployment of capital that both (A) supports their needs in a final product and (B) not to disrupt their current operations. Such stakeholders included: end-users/operators, security, facilities, leasing, EH&S, technology, public relations and the C-Suite. Projects included: • 30 floors of strategic and phases rebuild of 300 Madison, NYC• Corporate HQ additional building build-to-suit • Various Satellite office fitouts and repositions -
