CurrentSenior Parliamentary Advisor guiding the Member of the Welsh Parliament’s activity, publicity, policy development and engagement.Key responsibilities• Leading research and the drafting of all communications - both internal and external as well as speeches and questions.• Driving all policy development including working with external stakeholders to develop changes to existing policy. • Drafting articles, blogs, and opinion pieces, as well as responses to consultations.• Actively representing the Member of Parliament at various internal and external events; including consulting with Government Ministers and key stakeholders.• Dealing with all Welsh legislation including drafting bills as well as monitoring the legislation output of other UK nations to assess their impact on Wales.• Producing and circulating briefing materials on key policy / legislative changes to the MS and other key stakeholders.• Monitoring local and national media for opportunities to comment or raise within the Welsh Parliament.• Monitoring the Health & Care landscape for innovative ways to deliver better outcomes through national policy / legislation.Key achievements• Able to guide an inexperienced politician to become an active Member of the Welsh Parliament, a Shadow Minister and an integral member of the Health and Social Care Committee. • Built upon my existing links to establish the MS and ensure he was engaged with key stakeholders.• Established an online presence, social media channels and direct engagement activities including articles in the national press.
