> As part of Boeing Research and Technology’s (BR&T’s) Phantom works and fee-for-service organizations, I was responsible for developing innovative processes and techniques to increase the performance of a wide variety of Boeing programs (internal customers).> Applied genetic algorithms to agent-based war game simulations resulting in automated evolutionary design of complex operational systems. Complex systems could evolve and adapt to specific operational objectives, identifying key areas for technology and/or design improvements. “Cost performance” could be made an integral part of the design process when appropriate cost models were available.> Operational scenarios included the design of persistent ISR architectures (both space and airborne), ballistic missile defense architectures, hypersonic weapons applications, remote sensing satellite systems and architectures, space and ground communications effectiveness, and various other theatre-level war game scenarios.

> Captured internal application development funding to develop and produce PATHS (Performance Analysis and Trades for Hyperspectral Systems). This tool is currently being used to do requirements and performance analysis for the Hyperspectral Remote Sensing Ventures program.> Developed on-orbit calibration experiments operations and scheduling for the SBSS program. Off-axis point and extended source rejection analysis required creating new high fidelity earthshine and lunar radiance models as part of the integrated mission operations and analysis.> Captured funding to produce two different space architecture design optimization tools: Architecture Valuation Assessment (AVA) and Space Architecture Design and Optimization (SADO). Both tools have been used extensively on several quick-study efforts to assess the feasibility and requirements of various space architectures concepts. An achievement award was issued for each of these works.

> Principle investigator on developing some of the first image processing algorithms designed for automated diagnostic testing of medical imaging equipment as well as medical imaging analysis of patient data. Algorithms were subsequently approved by the FDA. > Developed imaging formats which allowed for the network transfer of medical images and patient data across a variety of computer and diagnostic equipment platforms. This was one of the first prototypes which allowed doctors and technicians remote access to diagnostic medical imaging data and equipment.> Designed and constructed the Orasis company website.

> Primary investigator on a small business innovative research contract to develop and validate an earth background image generation model utilizing fractal geometry to generate terrain, cloud, an atmospheric turbulence structures.> Developed advanced clutter rejection and target detection algorithms which utilized adaptive motion techniques. These new algorithms eventually achieved new levels of dim target detection capability for Navy shipboard IR sensors.> Participated in performance modeling and design of nearly all aspects of IR sensor surveillance systems and system constellations. Programs included SSTS, BSTS, BE, and MSX.> Received both Scientist of the Year and Professional of the Year Awards
