This included the development & maintenance of our OHS systems and processes. Identifying any workplace hazards and implementing appropriate controls. The investigation of incidents, undertaking root cause analysis and identifying ways to prevent future incidents. This included managing the organisations COVID response and ensuring business continuity as an essential service provider.

Managed the requirements of numerous regulatory bodies within Australia and New Zealand for materials which are regulated for import, export or sale, while ensuring the timely clearance and delivery of shipments, through effective communication with customers, departments internally, regulatory authorities and customs brokers. I was responsible for the preparation of numerous reports that were submitted to state/federal regulatory bodies. These range from monthly to annual reports on the importation and supply of controlled chemicals.Led the development of internal databases and systems which improved our capabilities to identify regulated products and to ensure correct permit information is provided to customs brokers.Major projects in this role have included the review of Australian & New Zealand Tariffs for the chemicals, biologicals and laboratory equipment within the company’s inventory, ensuring compliance with Customs requirements and also minimising the amount of duty the company is liable to be paid on imports. Also undertaken was the identification and classification of several thousand hazardous substances to implement the requirements of the New Zealand ‘Hazardous Substances and New Organisms’ Regulations. Elements of this project required collaboration with overseas colleagues to ensure that the correct data would be implemented onto the appropriate Safety Data Sheets.
