The World by Road Expedition is an overland documentary film expedition sponsored by Toyota, using two vehicles to drive to 69 countries on 6 continents, spanning 77,000 miles over 2.5 years. At the time, it was the longest circumnavigation of the globe that had ever been done by car, garnering international recognition from National Geographic, which nominated us for Adventurers of the Year in the winter of 2010.My roles on the expedition spanned sponsorship coordination, logistics, driver, videographer, photographer, cultural liaison, and chief negotiator with a rebel group in the Democratic Republic of Congo.This was the most challenging thing I have ever done in my life and has shaped my worldview into a much more realistic and optimistic vision of what the world is really like. I'm happy to report that we were embraced with open arms and big smiles wherever we were in the world, including rebel-occupied territory in Africa.This experience taught me that there is no limit to being resourceful in difficult situations when all odds seem stacked against you.
