  Mr. Ahern is a Managing Director with Jones Lang LaSalle's Project and Development Services Division in the Mid-Atlantic Region. He is the Project Director on the $300 million Ambulatory Care Facility for VCU Health System. Facilitating communication and providing team leadership are key components to Mr. Ahern's project success. He has 28 years of experience in project development, construction management, and general contracting.Mr. Ahern has led the team that has successfully delivered several large and complex projects for VCU Health including the Critical Care Hospital; a 367,000 sf 15-story hospital tower with 108 Intensive Care Beds, 104 Acute Care beds, 20 Department of Corrections beds, a 40 bed private room Neonatal ICU, Emergency Department, 10 Operating Rooms, Central Sterile Department and a public concourse with training rooms and a gift shop. Jones Lang LaSalle successfully moved the Health System on schedule and returned over $6 million in savings. Other notable projects include the $158 million McGlothlin Medical Education building and the $200 million Children’s Hospital of Richmond outpatient pavilion.Prior to the VCU projects, Mr. Ahern was Project Manager for Jones Lang LaSalle on Capital One West Creek Corporate Campus' 300-acre, 1.5 million sf, $425 million phased development. Before joining Jones Lang LaSalle, he served as project manager for the general contractor on a 105,000 sf new hospital in Avery County, North Carolina. The 80 bed new facility included two surgical suites, emergency department with cast and trauma rooms, imaging rooms, lab, pharmacy, 20 bed psychiatric unit, CT Scan, nuclear medicine, and mobile MRI capabilities. The remote site required two miles of sewer pipe and a water system of two wells and a 500,000 gallon storage tank. Mr. Ahern's experience also includes medical office buildings, corporate offices, medical clinics, sports facilities, retail facilities, hospital renovations and parking structures.
