My sales career spans over 30 years with substantial experience in packaging sales across several packaging mediums to customers and potential customers in senior procurement roles.During the past 10 years I have had a particular focus on business development with national and multi national businesses, with substantial success including winning one of the largest new customers for Orora Fibre (Now Opal Packaging as of May 1 2020) in the past 10 years. This role demands a keen commercial knowledge of large and complex sales opportunities, as well as a requirement to develop and deliver compelling sales presentations.Some of the key areas of the selling strategies I focus on are:• Uncover customer business problems and develop those needs they best meet• Present Opal benefits with high impact, specific to the customer needs • Differentiate our Opal offerings from the competition, even in a commodity environment• Win business that makes commercial sense• Make credible sales calls at senior executive levelsOver my career I have focused on continually building and reviewing sales performance.This desire to improve selling skills has driven me to seek to improve this through formal training and as a result I have become an accredited facilitator of both the Huthwaite Spin Selling learning programme and the ENS (Effective Negotiating Strategies) methodology based on professional negotiating and influencing.This accreditation has provided me with a keen understanding of the selling process and has enhanced significantly my sales success.This has also provided the opportunity for me to facilitate over 30 workshops within the Amcor, Orora and now Opal businesses, focused on improving negotiated outcomes for over 400 fellow employees across the business from sales, procurement, production, commercial and customer service backgrounds.I am the only person within Opal who is qualified to facilitate both of these programs and one of two qualified to facilitate ENS.
