Profile bio

About Mark Anders

With nearly 12 years’ experience in Civil, Structural, and Architectural Engineering in the Oil and Gas sector working on small feasibility studies through to large EPC projects, I am now looking for a new opportunity to enhance and expand my knowledge and experiences further.I started out in the industry in 2008 as a trainee CAD technician using MicroStation, AutoCAD, Frameworks, SmartPlant3D, and Tekla Structures. Through a lot of hard work, many late nights, and some very antisocial months I successfully completed 7-years part-time education to achieve a First-Class Honours Degree in Civil Engineering while working a full-time job. Although this route was tough, it was extremely rewarding and taught me the valuable lesson that if I focus enough of my time, energy, and motivation, anything is possible. My career took a defining turn in 2015 with the opportunity to work in Paris as a Tekla Designer on an 8-month assignment, followed by a 6-month stint in Moscow. The time spent in these countries allowed me to gain a wealth of experience and knowledge, not only in engineering but with different cultures, languages, and environments. Taking the opportunity to extend my assignments abroad meant I had to take the difficult decision not to continue studying for a Master’s Degree, so, if this opportunity was to present itself in the future, this will be something I will be eager to achieve.Since my return to the UK in late 2016, I have worked in London and Milton Keynes as a Lead Engineer, working closely with high value engineering centres in India and Shanghai. I was also the ‘go-to guy’ for urgent CAD work for a number of disciplines and the sole Tekla user for structural work. During this time, I gained experience using Staad.Pro, Foundation3D, Mat3D and a basic understanding of Ansys 2019 R2 for finite analysis.Moving on to the future, I am interested in exploring all the opportunities that present themselves, as either a Civil / Structural Designer or Engineer, or within the project management sector.
