The Superintendent Fixed Plant Planning and Asset Strategy Development at Roy Hill is accountable for the development and delivery for all Fixed Plant (Port and Mine) Shutdown Maintenance Plans and Schedules. This is achieved by embedding the importance of disciplined Work Management within the working groups. My goal has been to developed a culture with in the planning and execution teams of understanding the importance each attribut of the work management process contributes to the planning cycle and schedule development.Another key responsibility of my position is leading the Maintenance optimisation and Strategy development team. The role requirements are leading the refinement and continual improvement of Roy Hills Asset Management Plans, to develop fit for purpose maintenance strategies to minimise unplanned maintenance activity between shutdown windows. The approach I have adapted is to utilise Preventive Maintenance Optimisation (PMO) when applicable for existing strategy refinement and RCM for all new assets development. To date the projects I have managed have delivered cost savings of approximately $40,000,000 P.A.

Mongolia

The Oyu Tolgoi Project in Mongolia Is a green fields project consisting of open pit and underground mines, processing plant and supporting infrastructure to produce high grade copper and gold concentrates. The Maintenance Specialist/Advisor, primary purpose is to help develop the national maintenance workforce to succeed in their current and future roles. My position works closely with the Concentrator Maintenance and Shutdown Planning, Maintenance Execution, Reliability Engineering and the Asset management groups to ensure that all maintenance and Shutdown planning is efficiently planned and executed. My role also provides the national workforce on-the job training for the Rio Tinto Work Management Maintenance systems, Shut down Planning and Asset Management Process providing maximum training exposure for the Mongolian personnel.

Reporting directly to the Head of Project Engineering BHP Billiton Iron Ore , the role essentials lead the development and implementation of Asset Management framework across BHPBIO major growth projects for Mines, Port , Rail and Non Processing Infrastructure plant, equipment and assets . Responsibilities include and are not limited to the developing and embedding standard, repeatable maintenance practices and strategies using RCM / FMEA / LCC based methodologies, developing Life Cycle costing and Asset Management plans and subject matter expertise to the operations. The role was also charged with the added accountability for the maintenance systems development in SAP, (technical objects structure/TOS, bill of material/BOM ) and the Identification and procurement of first fill spares.

The role was charged with delivering increased organisational capability by managing the introduction of new infrastructure and the associated process & system changes. Primary project outcomes have come from developing and embedding standard, repeatable maintenance and operations practices to consistently achieve asset capability, reliability and cost targets. Key focus areas are to implement effective Maintenance and Operations work processes leading into operational reliability, and defect elimination. The goal of the Rapid Growth Project 5 Operational Readiness/Asset Management Readiness project was to deliver the foundations for an Asset Management state for the new processing and Infrastructure facilities at BHPbilltons Port Operations. This supported the execution of a seamless transition from a construction site to a reliable operation delivering 180Mtpa. I was responsible for managing the interface between the construction and operations teams, ensuring the owner (Port Operations) had the required systems, process, procedures, and supporting infrastructure in place and ready for use when the construction site was handed to the operations for use. The role also had the added accountability for the coordination of the Asset Management function which involved identifying and implementing proactive opportunities, anticipating and resolving defects and equipment degradation across all classes of equipment and systems used in the RGP 5 Port Fixed plant, Rail and NPI, development of Asset management tools and frame work and repeatable maintenance solutions

Role Responsibilities Identifying, developing, and implementing key operating methodologies (operating and maintenance practices, procedures, and operating plans) including tonnage and ramp up rates, and quality targets for the Newman NJV (150mtpa).Identifying key enablers necessary to deliver the operating requirements, including employee capability, infrastructure and service requirements, and systems and processes for the Newman NJV. Ensuring the development of information systems and data generation tools in order to capture the performance of the NJV HUB plant and equipment and thus make informed business decisions’ to assist with the measuring design capacity, capability and reliability. Identifying and coordinating the development of all NJV operational critical documentation etc. customer supply agreements (mine, feed, and process iron ore),preventative maintenance instructions (PMI), plant operating procedures , standard working procedures, safe working procedures, and data recording and logic process control systems.

I ensured all business targets as per the departments business plan were achieved for safety, cost grade and production, High-grade iron ore and Beneficiated iron ore . My management team comprised of six direct line management reports, 55 operators, and two planners. I was accountable for performance management of my team, including setting individual KPIs. I strived to promote a team that actively fostered a reliability culture among Operating and Maintenance personnel, focusing on defect elimination and continuous improvement.One of my main responsibilities was the coordination and management of the Operations Supervision and Planners who were responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly safety and production. My team’s key success was the ability to liaise with the other departments for the implementation of operational plans on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
