I recently launched Nova & Koa (formerly Fact + Fiction), a start-up, that produces unique, market-disrupting fashion/multi-functional women’s handbags – I am responsible for the day-to-day financial management of the company, as well as planning and implementing our growth strategies.Achievements and Responsibilities as Founder & Chief Financial and Operations Manager:• Complete Business Evaluation and Reorganisation: Conducted a thorough top to bottom analysis of the business for weaknesses and opportunities and identified numerous areas where corrections and changes led to improved efficiencies (stock-planning), new revenue streams (new markets and territories) and significant cost-savings (VAT reclaims, debt servicing costs, international carriage, etc.);• Cash-flow Management: Implemented systems and procedures to ensure the company always had the necessary accurate management information to have a precise understanding of its cash position;• Financial Forecasting/planning: planned and adapted stock ordering requirements to match our fluctuating demand and cash-flow position - this was challenging due to relatively long lead times and Chinese New Year;• Debt Funding and Equity Raising: produced the business plan and financial forecasts needed to raise follow-on bank term debt and overdrafts, and liaised with a capital-raising intermediary to raise pre-seed equity funding and gained EIS pre-approval status for potential investors; and• Financial Reporting and Corporate Governance: produced the VAT returns, management and year-end accounts; and handled the corporate governance of the company and communications with HMRC.

SummaryMy first entrepreneurial business was the founding, and launching of a new, fast-casual restaurant brand called ‘adobo Mexican’, which at our peak had three Central London locations. One of my major highlights during this time was the fact that adobo was awarded ‘Best Burrito in London’ by renowned foodie reviewer Zagat beating all our more established and better-funded competitors.I sold this business in 2018. Responsibilities & Achievements• New Product Launch - Infrastructure Design and Implementation: Transferred to the New York office to set up both the mid-office and back-office support functions for NAB’s North American ABCP conduit TSL (USA), Inc;• Re-engineered Financial Models/Designed Workflow Processes: To ensure successful compatibility with the US ABCP market; and responsible for coordinating internal departments and technology requirements necessary to be fully operational - culminating in obtaining operational approval from Moody’s and S&P.• Built External Stakeholder Relationships: Acted as the primary contact with: Clients, CP Dealer Panel, Custodian and Account Bank and Corporate Services Provider; and• Headed Mid-office: Managed the day-to-day funding and administration of the TSL ABCP Conduit.
